In my more than 22 years of parenting I’ve learned a few tricks when it comes to dealing with (ahem) “picky” eaters. And while the tactics have varied among my three children, there are a few common threads.
Rule number one? Make the food look as appealing as possible. Now since we’re talking kids here, it’s not about a pretty garnish, fancy swirl of puree, or preciously stacked foods.
No — we’re talking bright colors, fun shapes and foods that “look like” something other than — well, food.
As in:
How adorable are these fruit skewers? Super easy to make, and — for some reason — seem to “magically” disappear much more quickly than if I had cut up the same fruit and put in in a bowl.

Fruity “Magic” Wands

Skewers
Slice watermelon to a thickness slightly thinner than your cutter. Cut the slices into star shapes. For each wand, thread 10 blueberries on a skewer. Top each with a watermelon star. Keep refrigerated, covered, till ready to serve.
